Siân joins the Dey Lab - for a few days!

Siân visited the lab for a couple weeks to work with one of our favourite yeasts (S. pombe, of course). Working with Ricardo and Felix, Siân picked up tricks and tips on growing, genetically manipulating and imaging yeasts. She even tried her hands on some tetrad dissection, very successfully albeit not without some frustration. Of course, while she was in the lab, we took the chance to bother her with our image analysis woes and she was more than happy to help, writing up macros and even a plugin to quantify objects within cells.

What an impressive summary!

During an amazing Blue Seminar, Siân raised some questions about ‘What is a good image?’ while sharing the image analysis methods she has developed and her vision for the future with the larger EMBL community.

It was lovely to have her over - we hope she comes back soon!
